There are several blogs and blog posts dedicated to what it takes to have a good blog. I’ve read through some of them and learned some things but there were also times that I felt discouraged about rebooting the blog. One thing that can be found fairly regularly is that a blog should be focused on very few topics or just one topic. This has been an obstacle for me because I don’t have any one particular area of interest that I want to write about. There are several interests and they can be very different from one another. This has created tension when attempting to plan an editorial calendar that follows a series of thoughts and topics.

Recently the desire to begin writing again and the need for an area of focus finally came together for me. While the posts that I want to write might not be of interest to one particular group of readers, I think that the topics will match the audience because there are other people whose interests span several areas much like mine do. I also hope that I can still offer something on a topic of interest to any particular group of readers. All of my various topics do come into focus because I am writing from my viewpoint and worldview.

Here is a list of topics that will come up on this blog:

  • Jesus Christ
  • Kingdom of God
  • Scripture
  • Ministry
  • College ministry
  • Campus ministry
  • Young Adult ministry
  • Academic ministry
  • Theology
  • Philosophy
  • Ethics
  • Philosophy of Science
  • History of Science
  • Philosophy of Religion
  • Christian Philosophy
  • Theological Philosophy
  • World Religions
  • Comparative Religions
  • Comparative Mythology
  • Anthropology
  • Social Science
  • Natural Science
  • Physics
  • Quantum Physics
  • Astronomy
  • Astrophysics
  • Cosmology
  • Science and Religion

Some of these are broad topics and some are somewhat specific. I hope that as I spend time writing about them I will be able to explain and illustrate the ways that they are interconnected. My daily work and passion is campus ministry and these topics are viewed through that lens.

I went looking through the archives and realized that the last real post was the one about planting the campus ministry. It was two years ago today. Interesting timing.

It’s been too long since I’ve posted anything of value on this site. I have felt that to start a consistent pattern of blogging again would be like entering into the middle of a conversation. It many ways it will be like that but I hope that consistency will smooth out the gaps between online and real life. It’s been a little daunting for me to dive into this again because of the many changes in my life since I launched an online presence a little over nine years ago. It’s been easy to have a presence on the many social networks that I’m connected with, but the work of blogging on things that matter has been slow to find any inspiration.

Instead of trying to make connections with everything I have published online over the years, I’m going to treat this as the beginning of a completely new relationship. I’ll be sharing from what is currently happening in my life as well as some of the things I have learned over the course of my life. Explanations of the journey I have taken over the past decade should reveal themselves as we get to know each other.

Thank you for listening.
